Yeadon gained a new reason to linger on its High Street in October 2026, when Vinyl Genie Records & Coffee opened its doors at number 2. Behind a bright, hand-painted shop front, it pairs racks of records with a proper coffee counter, so you can dig through the crates with a coffee in hand and take your time over what goes home with you.
Background / History
Vinyl Genie began life on the Leeds record fair circuit, selling pre-loved vinyl at events such as the monthly record fair and open decks at The Woods in Chapel Allerton and a vinyl and craft market at the Old Kings Arms in Horsforth. After weeks of pricing stock and getting the space ready, the shop held its grand opening on Saturday 3 October 2026, with a steady stream of new faces and old friends coming through the door on day one. The shop front was hand painted by a local artist, which gives the place a personal feel before you have even stepped inside.
What You’ll Find
The focus is on second-hand vinyl, with plenty of crates to flick through and a run of favourites displayed along the walls, classic Beatles LPs among them. The racks are still growing, and you are actively invited to suggest the essential albums you would like to see in stock. Alongside the records there is a coffee bar with a dedicated espresso machine, making this as much a place to pause as a place to shop.
Experience / Atmosphere
Inside, the room is bright and simple, with framed music prints, record sleeves on display and space to browse without feeling rushed. Opening weekend drew a busy, chatty crowd, and that friendly, neighbourly mood sets the tone. The aim is to become a hub for the local community, and the shop is already working with a neighbouring Yeadon venue to put on music events.
