UK Record Shops (recordshop.directory) helps people find independent record shops across the UK. We are glad to hear from labels, fairs, services and brands that record buyers would genuinely like, and we keep things simple and honest.
Listings are always free
Shop listings are free and always will be. We never charge a shop to be listed, and we never sell links or placements inside a listing. Listings are for physical shops only.

- The Weekly Crate newsletter: 50 subscribers, sent every Saturday, with opens of around 54% across October 2026 issues (MailerLite)

What we accept
- Sponsored placements at the fixed rates below. Every one is clearly labelled Sponsored, every link uses rel=”sponsored”, and we keep editorial control and the final say on wording.
- Free mentions on merit in our guides and blog posts, where a service is genuinely useful to record buyers or sellers. New services wait until they have been trading for around 6 months with real stock. If we mention you for free, we ask for a link back to recordshop.directory.
- Events and record fairs that are relevant to our readers.
What we don’t accept
- Links or paid placements inside shop listings
- Hidden or unlabelled paid links
- Gambling or crypto
- Anything that competes with or knocks the independent shops we list

All placements are labelled Sponsored in line with ASA and CMA guidance. We take one newsletter sponsor per issue. We may say no to anything that doesn’t suit our readers.
Display ads
We have one display ad slot in the sidebar, shown across the site beside our guides and shop pages. We run one advertiser at a time.

- We check every ad before it goes live and keep the final say.
- Record shops can’t buy display ads on directory pages (shop listings, town, county and region pages), so nothing ever looks like a paid ranking. Shops are welcome to sponsor a guide or the Weekly Crate instead.
- To book, email us. We send an invoice and the ad runs for the dates agreed.
