Dead Cloud was set up as a limited company in February 2023, trading from 33a Oxford Road, a few minutes’ walk from the centre of Altrincham. From the start the idea was simple: a proper bricks-and-mortar record shop where new releases and second-hand vinyl sit side by side, backed by an online store for anyone who cannot make the trip. The shop takes part in Record Store Day UK and marks National Album Day, and it has built a clear identity of its own, right down to the Dead Cloud tote bags and slipmats on the counter. It also buys records, so collections from the area regularly find their way back into the racks.
What You’ll Find
The stock is broad and refreshingly mixed. Classic rock, punk and new wave, indie and alternative sit alongside well-stocked jazz, blues, funk, soul and disco sections, with reggae, ska, hip hop, electronic, African and world music, soundtracks and pop all given proper space.
