Background / History
VOD Music began its journey in April 2004 under the original name VINYLONDECK, before rebranding in 2006 to reflect a growing passion for all music formats. The shop quickly established itself as a focal point in the North East Wales music community, not only through its retail space but also by organising record fairs. These fairs addressed a shortage of local music outlets by touring towns throughout the region, offering music fans access to records and fostering a wider appreciation for physical formats. This travelling approach continued until 2023, when VOD Music shifted its focus back to Mold, the hometown of the shop. The following year saw the launch of a refreshed record fair format, introducing a mix of rotating and guest dealers, with the unique addition of keeping the record shop open during these events for the first time. The shop itself opened its doors in 2009 and achieved recognition in 2015 as the UK’s smallest independent record shop, occupying just 67 square feet. August 2024 marked a new chapter, as VOD Music moved to a larger premises at No. 24 New Street, enhancing the experience for both new and returning visitors.
