Amazing little shop that is literally packed to the rafters with music from everywhere. You could loose hours in here just rummaging through everything that they have. The owner is always very knowledgeable and helpful. Always something to be found and always extremely reasonably priced (unlike some other places over found in Leeds that are somewhat over priced) Recommended if you have a few hours to kill
Great shop, friendly owner. Bought a few great things on visit today. Next time will spend a bit more time going through as there's lots of gems in here. Brilliant, thanks.
Disappointing visit, i travelled 70 miles from south to come to this shop specifically, opening times state opening at 10am, i arrived at the shop shortly after 10am, the shops is Crash records but wall of sound operates downstairs, on my arrival i noticed the stairs had a chain across so i asked at the counter if downstairs ( wall of sound ) was open, i was informed by the helpful staff at Crash records that wall of sound would be open ‘ around’ midday, as the guy normally gets there about 12pm, slightly annoying but i thought ok i’ll come back soon, i hadn’t got long though as i had to get back down south at around 3pm. After wasting a couple of hours walking around Leeds City Centre i returned back to Crash records to be unfortunately told that it still wasn’t open. At this point i was not prepared to waste any more time and now i had wasted money on 3 hours parking and overall a wasted journey. Very disappointed, when the opening times state 10am. Will most likely not be returning back to this shop. I presume it is a good shop with good stock, i may of just fell unlucky on this day.
Wall of Sound is my favourite record shop, and maybe my favourite spot in Leeds City Centre. It’s a real Aladdin’s cave for a music lover, there is so much variety and always something new to pique your interest. If you are going in looking for a specific album, the staples from any genre there’s shops in Leeds that cater more to that; the joy in Wall of sound is the digging, getting that sought-after classic or maybe finding something new you might not have tried otherwise. Everything is very fairly priced to reflect condition and rarity. There’s also a great music books section! Elliot has a wealth of knowledge and a real love for music, always really great service and is very helpful in answering any questions, play testing before purchase, giving recommendations, etc. With how much is in there it may be intimidating to the less seasoned record collector, but take your time and you will find it’s well worth it!
A great shop hidden in the basement of Crash records shop. Prepare to root through a huge amount of vinyl. Will definitely be going back to find Jazz gems. Run by a friendly and knowledgeable guy. Bought an Eric Dolphy Lp
