One of the most magical shopping experiences of my life! I recently bought a VHS player and I’m developing a fun hobby of collecting old tapes. I casually asked the owner if he had any VHS tapes… “Oh, I’ve got thousands of ‘em!” He said. The only catch… they were all buried behind a secret room. He told me to return the next day so he could clear a pathway! The next day I returned. I entered the “crypt” and I was gobsmacked! I was buried in old forgotten VHS tapes which were falling all around me. I had to leapfrog over bags and boxes. I got trapped. I had to tidy my way out!!!! Each time tapes would fall down I would find hidden gems. And I found absolutely everything I was looking for! I spent absolutely hours engulfed in memories. You CANNOT get this feeling from Netflix! The bookstore was beautiful. Books piled to the ceilings. You name a title; he will have it. But good luck rummaging around trying to find it ;) ;) Some advice: it seems this is the shop keepers hobby and not necessarily a business. I had to telephone him to open the door. (Even more magical!) And I had to make an appointment for when I returned for the second day. So be aware that the door might be closed upon arrival. And you’ll need to phone/text to be granted entry. Very friendly gentleman. Lots of stories and anecdotes. He clearly has a true passion for film and literature. Very special experience. Go!!!
I love this place and could spend ages in there rummaging for 1950/1960s paperbacks and the guy that owns it is a friendly chap. The only thing that often confuses me though is the opening times. I live locally and it’s only a short walk away but I’ve often been to the shop when it should be open to find that it’s closed. Having said that, I look forward to my next visit and hopefully come away with some nice finds.
A real treasure trove, especially if you're like me and enjoy a good rummage. I've been going here on and off as far back as I can remember.
Totally in love with this place! It’s owner is fabulous helping you find treasures in it.
My favourite shop in Bournemouth A veritable treasure trove!
