Regionally this is the place, and their claims of the biggest independent store in England? holds true. The prices are nice too, staff friendly, you could spend a couple of months in here looking, and I'm not exaggerating. Vinyl I got is clean, well priced, obscure stuff going on as well, some great rarities, and new releases. Oddly enough it's in a garden centre, the small entrance gives way to an absolute tardis. Everything from rock n roll on 10" shellac to good ole Taylor Swift. Also a strong comic and memorabilia section.
After hearing good things I travelled over an hour to get to Uptown Records and so glad I did ! I was like a kiddie in a sweet shop. Armed with a to get list, I came away with a couple of first presses I'd been after for a while. But they had more than one of each and having the ability to play them on site was a fantastic asset, and instrumental in my final choice. I shall certainly be returning in very near future, with a couple of mates in tow. Worth noting that just while I was there the guy brought 2 decent sized collections, so the turnover of stock looked as if it could be pretty good too. Give it a go, and I'm sure like me you'll be eager to get back( finances permitting!)
This place is a day out in its own right. Huge selection of music. Vinyls, singles, CDs, tapes etc etc all well priced. Absolutely sound blokes that run it too. To get to it you have to go through the garden centre. Which too is worth visiting. Would recommend to any music collector at any level. 5* from us.
Fabulous! First visit to Uptown Records today, I will definitely be returning. Only managed to skim through a tiny percentage of what the store has to offer. A lovely welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, listening station and help to hand. Perfect! 5⭐'s
