Tangled Parrot is an independent record shop that has been trading since 2000. Recognised by both The Guardian and The Times as one of the UK’s best record stores, it has earned a strong reputation for excellent customer service and a commitment to supporting local music.

Originally based in Carmarthen, the business has since expanded with additional locations in Swansea and Hay-on-Wye. Tangled Parrot stocks music across all formats and genres, with a particular focus on the fringes and more experimental ends of the musical spectrum. The shop also offers a selection of merchandise including t-shirts, badges, and a curated range of books and magazines on music and culture.

In addition to its physical stores, Tangled Parrot operates online. The Hay-on-Wye location shares its space with Eighteen Rabbit, a fair trade business dedicated to ethical sourcing and direct relationships with global suppliers.

I had time to kill and had passed this coffee shop several times meaning to pop in. I entered the store and the guy serving was busy serving a customer buying several drinks. He acknowledged me and said be be with me shortly. Whilst waiting I browsed the store, there is a wide range of records at reasonable prices. there is also flyers advertising record fairs and band gigs. There is a decent amount of seating without the space feeling cramped. I chose to sit by the door so I could read my book with a good amount of daylight from the front of the store. The rear of the store has spot lighting and is not as good for reading. I ordered my coffee and I requested decaf as I'd already had two coffees that day, the guy, looked under the counter, went out to look in the store room and returned to search the coffee display on the wall. He was very apologetic that he'd ran out of decaf. I chose to have regular coffee and it taste just as good. I sat and read my book and whilst doing so it was nice to see customers coming and going with take away orders. Some of which were known by the guy and were clearly regulars to this little gem on the high street. Very friendly, welcoming and great customer service!
My son showed me this great vynal record shop and also a coffee shop yesterday. Right on the highstreet of Swansea. What a fantastic little place! The guy behind the counter, I presume the owner, was warm and welcoming. He explained the order of records, and you don't need to purchase anything to browse the records. However, small pastries and a selection of drinks are available. Music playing while we got out of the chill and enjoyed a coffee. A selection of new and second-hand records are available. Definitely worth a visit.
Despite the lack of limes, this is still the finest cafe in Swansea city centre...one of my favourite cafes I can think of anywhere, in fact. Fantastic music, to listen to and buy on wonderful vinyl, delicious vegan sausage rolls and soup, and lovely folk working there.
Amazing choice of records. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Also great matcha latte!
Best chai and dirty chai in the world that we have tried to date!! Also a super jolly man and lovely records to buy or even just chat about if you just want a cafe stop. A true Swansea gem!! Our fave stop during our time in Swansea.
