Sister Ray is a storied independent record shop located at 75 Berwick Street in Soho, London, named after The Velvet Underground song “Sister Ray” and founded in 1989 by Neil Brown initially as a stall at Camden Market before opening a bricks-and-mortar store on Berwick Street. Over the years, the shop merged with Phil Barton’s Rounder Records in Brighton in 2003, relocated across the road to its current premises, and weathered the digital music era by doubling down on vinyl, establishing itself as a linchpin of the vinyl revival. Spread over two floors, the ground floor features new releases and CDs, while the basement is devoted to an ever-changing collection of second-hand and rare vinyl across genres such as indie, punk, rock, soul, jazz and electronic music. The interior’s floor-to-ceiling shelving, listening stations, and friendly knowledgeable staff create an inviting atmosphere where collectors and casual browsers alike discover both new releases and hard-to-find gems. A pioneer of Record Store Day in the UK, Sister Ray frequently hosts in-store DJ sessions and special events, cementing its status as a cultural hub and must-visit destination for vinyl enthusiasts and DJs in the heart of London’s music scene.

A great and wonderful selection of records in the basement with well-organised categories; found quite a few records I was looking for quite a while. The CD selection is as good as the record selection. The staff are friendly and helpful too. Picked up a Wolf Alice album here for £19, which isn’t too bad. Cool store!
An impressive and extensive collection of rare CDs and vinyl records—truly remarkable. I am completely satisfied with my purchase and now feel compelled to visit London more frequently. I sincerely appreciate the outstanding work you do; it's truly amazing. Please continue your excellent efforts ;-)
Nice interior, good vibe within the store...However... it turned to be a big disappointment.. I had a list with more than dozen post punk / new wave classics such as Go4, Siouxsie, Killing Joke, Simple Minds, but none of them was on the stock ?!? Moreover, the lack of enthusiasm from the staff during the record search, as if it was my fault that they couldn't find a single record from the list?!?!?! Luckily, Rough Trade wasn't too far away!
An excellent record store with an amazing collection of vinyl and cds. I had amazing time while browsing. Staff was friendly and helpful. Great experience. Recommendes
First time properly browsing and buying 6 records here! Amazing shop, great selection but lost of all - some great prices! Please keep this up as it’s very attracting for customers while also still being good for your business. Also - some oldies second hand in great shape too, good good!
