Rough Trade East, inaugurated in July 2007, is housed in a 5,000 sq ft space within the former Truman Brewery courtyard off Brick Lane, making it the chain’s flagship UK store. Designed by David Adjaye, the shop features a fair-trade café, a snug area with iMacs, sofas and desks, and an in-store stage that can accommodate audiences of up to 300 for live music events. Rough Trade East’s inventory spans chart titles to the cutting edge of alternative music, with roughly a quarter of its merchandise dedicated to vinyl, each item accompanied by a handwritten description to encourage discovery. The store’s emphasis on creating a welcoming environment has consistently driven sales well above expectations, and it remains a vital hub for East London’s vibrant music community.

Visited for an Instore by Billy Nomates. The performance area is actually the shop itself (unlike RT Bristol where it's a separate dedicated area). That does mean that there are pillars to look around if you're further back in the crowd, so best to get there early if you want the best view. Sound was great, and the staff very welcoming.
Haven't been in rough trade records for a while. Friendly helpful staff. Also a great selection of dance and electro 12" cuts. Very nice to have some records you can listen to on the ear phones. Plenty of music genres on offer, vinyls at the front CDs at the back. Plus other things like t-shirts.
Books? Check. Well-curated records? Check. Mindblowing events you go to and feel like you're in a dream? You got it. The place is really cool. When suboptimal things happen (which can happen anywhere), they are quick to remedy it. –––– For transparency, leaving the original review: They tell you they're closed, sell you beer anyway and then kick you out. Talk about mixed signals. Strangest 4.40 I've ever spent.
Fantastic record store. Great staff and events, with the opportunity to see some of your favourite artists up close and personal.
Just visited the awesome Rough Trade and grabbed 2 new records. Snail Mail/Lush and Wolf Alice. Now, if only I could chill here with a coffee or beer, this would be the perfect weekend!
