Very good record shop, has so much variety and quality is absolutely fantastic. Picked up a Morrissey CD and quality of it did not disappoint. Such a good little local business, also recommend for CD collectors as the prices are very low. Service is great and the shop just has a really nice vibe about it. Totally recommend for vinyl and CDs.
Great shop! I Was visiting Whitley Bay for a gig on Saturday night and popped into Mama Roux beforehand! Pleased I did, such a fun shop and a warm welcome and a friendly owner (steven?) 5 who answered all my questions and even went out of his way to check some details online for me. Really good prices and selection, I picked up 6 albums, including 2 i’ve been hunting down for ages! Overall an excellent experience, and if i’m in Whitley Bay again it will be my first stop !
The owner has obviously worked hard, in my opinion prices on some items were excessive and whendiscussed, I was given a monologue by a truly ignorant indiviual, who thinks he knows it all I am much older and have experienced far more than the owner could ever imagine and have been buying records longer than he has been alive, a true toad of toad hall character
We heard a lot about this shop- how friendly, knowledgeable and honest the owner is. We took a list of old vinyl records and he talked us through the ones he thought he could sell but would take them all. We showed him the actual vinyls and a lot of them weren’t really up to his standards to sell on. However he gave us an offer which we accepted. He backed up the offer showing us a special site which lists vinyl etc how many are currently for sale and how much the ones which have been sold actually went for. He did suggest alternatives for selling like ebay but we were quite happy to sell them to him. We left the shop feeling as if we hadn’t been ripped off which these days is very refreshing. He also has a web site for books which I’ll be investigating “Readers of the Lost Ark”
Fantastic independent record store in Whitley Bay. The owner Steve is an absolute gem of a bloke, happy to riff with customers and is a proper head. Played us some nice DOOM cuts and discussed his love for Baby Huey. Will be back a lot.
