Was here in November 2024. Definitely an unusual experience with not being allowed into the shop but I completely understand why. Seriously big collection. Owner had a great knowledge of sex pistols which is what I was looking for, had some great stuff unfortunately he was unable to get it for me as he had done his back in shortly before hand. Couldn't come back as I was on holiday but definitely was one of the best record shops in Edinburgh based on the scale of his collection. Love from Ireland!
A brilliant experience. Grabbed a rare LP I'd been looking for for ages in great nick. Just wish I'd gone on a sunnier drier day so I could have seen/bought more of this incredible collection. Will be back next time I'm in town with a list!! Definitely check this place out if you like blues!
A great experience, but one that differs from standard record shops. Here you should know what you're looking for and then you can dig through the crates outside the shop. You can't just look through the shop as it's full of records. But you will have a nice chat with wonderful stories and very interesting information from a very friendly owner. If you’re looking for rare vinyl at cheap prices just keep walking and take your chances at the charity shops! If you know what you want and are prepared to pay the going rate then there is a good chance this is the shop for you.
Visited yesterday and had great craic with Dougie. While I didnae get what I was originally looking for I did manage tae pick up some old vinyl that nicely fills a void in my collection. He's like one of the folks you'd meet at a record fair, full of knowledge, war stories and banter. I found my stuff in the boxes outside and was already aware you cannae wander into the shop. That's no an issue for me, if I ever put the gither a wishlist I'll be back tae see him as I've every faith he'll be able tae find anything I'm after. I'll reserve judgement on the negative experiences detailed here, they kinda speak for themselves! Thanks for a great experience, Dougie, mare power tae you.
